"Repowering" & being sick

In 2008 (Jan), We got a few loads, and they have kept us going, but we never seem to be able to finish a load. As soon as we get assigned a load, then we get asked to "repower" (or take over), another person's load to get it to it's destination faster (because we are a team). After a few of these "repowers" (going non-stop), I got sick. Leroy did too. We had to pull over (at a little dump of a truck stop) in Missouri. We were down for three days, bummer. Another team had to finish our load, and because of that we won't be going home anytime soon.

When we were hired with LCT, they said we could have our choice of "two weeks out, with 2 days home time" or "three weeks out, with 3 days home time". We chose 3 & 3, but it's been three weeks and they haven't sent us home yet, instead they keep "repowering us", and now have us back at the yard in Florida for a PM (Preventative Maintanence) and some repairs. I guess I'm just missing home.

It looks like we won't be going home any time soon.... Now starts LCT's busy season, flowers! for Valentine's Day. We will ALL be busy for the next three weeks at least. I guess that's good considering this economy...

God continues to bless our trips with clear roads and good weather. We know that eventually we will be in bad weather, but God will be with us in the middle of that as well.

Here's to getting out of the yard as soon as possible, and maybe getting home for a couple of days, before the really busy season hits.... we'll see. I would love to see my Mom, and Dad, and Daughter. (and maybe even my brother, Jon). I have spoken with my Mom often and know that she is doing well after the surgery. Praise God.

Blessings to you all,
Laurie :)

How is it working for LCT? I'm going there next week.

We like it at LCT. It's a lot better than some of the other companies we have worked with. No company is perfect. Each of them have their own quirks. The "trick" in this industry... is to try to find a company with the quirks that you can live with, are comfortable with. We just delivered flowers to Calif, now taking a load to Tampa, FL. Have a blessed day!! Laurie
